Andy Warhol: Social Circus, Gillman Barracks, Singapore

Curator: Khim ONG
16—29 January 2016, during Singapore Art Week 2016

Visitors to Andy Warhol: Social Circus will be transported to Warhol's studio – The Silver Factory, New York. The factory was a breeding ground for creativity. It was here that Warhol produced prints, paintings, photographs and films. Some of the Polaroids in Andy Warhol: Social Circus were shot in this factory. This was the largest collection of Warhol's celebrity Polaroids to be shown in Asia.

For the first time, a rare collection of Andy Warhol's Polaroids featuring prominent actors, artists and fashion designers from the '70s and '80s will be presented in Gillman Barracks, Singapore. Displaying Polaroid photographs of personalities such as Warhol himself, Bianca Jagger, Andre Leon Talley, Tina Chow and Martha Graham, this exhibition pays homage to Warhol's iconic studio, The Silver Factory, and avant-garde New York life.

Andy Warhol: Social Circus will kick start Singapore Art Week 2016 and is supported by the National Arts Council, Singapore.

The curator for Andy Warhol: Social Circus is Khim Ong, who curated Landscape Memories at Espace Louis Vuitton Singapore and the Singapore Pavillion at Art Stage Singapore 2015.

Andy Warhol: Social Circus runs from 16 to 29 January 2016 at Block 47 Malan Road, #01-26, Gillman Barracks. It is open daily from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free.
